Billing too much
July 30, 2010Because we can map our clients’ energy consumption per comparable functional units, we can quickly trace variances.
Our Energy Helpdesk noticed that one client’s gas consumption had really risen sharply. Its gas consumption was higher than in previous years by a factor of 500. As it appeared that the location involved had not been converted into a huge block of flats, the Helpdesk started looking at the gas supplier involved. Given the originally low gas consumption of 200 M3, the gas supplier had assumed that the gas meter had gone around the clock. This meant the gas consumption was 100,000 m3 higher than the reality. So no less than about €65,000.00 too much! The gas supplier has meanwhile offered its apologies and sent a credit note. Make sure that doesn’t happen to you. The mistakes are not always that extreme.
